Went up about a month or so ago to pick up a fish (nice little dartfish) and ended up coming back with 1 dartfish and 2 filamentous flasher wrasses, go figure. Roll Eyes

All the fish looked good, tanks were clean.  Things I didn't know until we were in the car and my wife informed me. (I know I should watch but I was chasing a child around.  Cheesy)  First, the tank with the wrasses had a dead Morish Idol in it (sales kid thought is was sold  Huh) and he dropped the dartfish and gave the wrasses a little ride as well. Shocked  All this not too much of an issue to me, as the fish did seem very alert, except while we were paying they mentioned NO GUARANTEES/NO REFUNDS on saltwater fish.

All that said, all the fish are alive a well and handled the transition pretty good.  One wrasse was a little touch and go for about a week then he cleaned and livened up.  I would say that price wise they were good.  Looking up the wrasses diver's den has them for $79.99 for one and we paid $45 for one.  I would say that is good.

Well, this was primarily just to pass along that there aren't any guarantees or refunds on saltwater fish.  So, consider yourselves informed!  Grin

Little tid bit I found out today when I went up there.  They have a gorgeous flame angle I believe.  Well I'm a little hesitant due to the coral and the reputation of these fish.  I was talking to the fellow up there and was mentioning this and made the coment about what would you do if it started munching on corals, I mean you're not going to flush a $80 fish not to mention the fact that its beautiful.  He said that if you could catch it (and it was healthy) you could bring it back for some store credit, not full purchase price, but hey I can live with that.

Now the wheels are really turning, it was much easier when there wasn't an option. Grin

Oh, if you haven't seen a mantis shrimp in person they have a hugh one in there now.  Ugly son-of-gun!!

FWIW - I've had a flame angel in my tank for almost two years now and it doesn't bother a thing.  I have a Zoster's butterfly that I see snack on stuff once in a great while but typically when I've not followed my feeding routine.   I've heard that could change as time goes on but I thinks it's worth the gamble!

It might be worth it.  They are such a beautiful fish and just one adds so much color!!

Always interested in personal experience.  While never a guarantee it can sooth one's nerves.

As a curiosity question, is your flame angel out a lot or does it hide?  Most of the fish I have seem to play shy most of time.  It is not unusual for me not to see any fish when I come down and look at the tank.

He was shy for a few weeks until he got used to his new surroundings and on lookers; but now he's in and out of the rock all day long investigating everything.  I really am glad I took the chance.

I finally made it up there!

Scored a nice little six-line wrasse, a Firefish, and some hermits...  I always have fun watching people catching these fish!!

That mantis rocks! I've been wanting one for a couple years now, just haven't the time or space to setup another tank for one... although I really think they are cool!!

Fishcrazy, what other fish do you have?  I've been doing some reading and it isn't looking very good.  Even if they don't nip at the coral they can become little bullies to smaller fish.  All I have is smaller (at least up to 4in fully grown) fish. (2clowns, 2x firefish, 1 bi-color, blenny, 2 mandarins).

I really do hate new fish, every single fish has some character flaw.

It was good to see you 2Far!

On a side note, currently we $1 red or blue leg hermits, $1.20 ceriths, $1 Nasarius, $18 TR True Percs, $15 Firefish, $40 Coco worms, $12 Kenya Tree frags, and $10 Spaghetti Leather Frags! Also we have a flame, but he is gonna run you $70...   Either way I think our pricing is getting much more reasonable!

I saw this flame when I was up there on friday.  Absolutely a gorgeous fish!!  I'm still up in the air though, lot's of money into the SPS frags so taking the risk is hard.  I go back and forth yes and no.  I too missed the snails, saw the hermits though.  Now if you had an emerald, maybe, I have a bubble algea issue.  As an FYI to those not up there recently, all the fish looked really good and healthy and the tanks were clean too!
